Wyndham Championship

Good morning,

Let’s dive in…

Developing Stories 📰

The Wyndham Championship concludes the regular season on the PGA TOUR. After this event, the top 70 players and ties will advance to the WGC St. Jude Classic next week. Those outside the top 70, who still have eligibility, will compete in the fall series, where the top 125 players at the end of that run will secure full playing status for 2025.

This week is crucial for players on the bubble of the top 70 and those outside the top 125. A strong performance here can set up a solid position for 2025 and a potential run into the top 30 at East Lake, which comes with additional benefits.

Although this week's field lacks many top players, notable names like Jordan Spieth, currently 63rd in the FedEx Cup, Shane Lowry, Sungjae Im, and Brian Harman are set to play.

Sedgefield Country Club, a shorter Donald Ross-designed par 70 course, is likely to be set up for easier play. The course only poses significant challenges when wind or extreme heat are factors. Expect plenty of birdies and eagles, with the winning score potentially reaching 20-under par or better. Rain is forecasted for the first two days, which might make the course very soggy and could lead to lift, clean, and place rules, allowing players to be very aggressive with their approaches.

Sedgefield Country Club, which has hosted the Wyndham Championship for much of its 80+ year history, measures just over 7,100 yards. The course features two par 5s, both under 550 yards and great eagle opportunities. While there are no traditional "drivable par 4s," there are nine par 4s between 370-450 yards and only three par 4s over 450 yards.
