Will Miami Close It Out In New York?

Warriors fighting to stay alive at home

Good morning,

Let’s dive in…

Developing Stories 📰

Game 5 Knicks Vs. Heat

The Golden State Warriors are down 3-1 to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round after losing Games 3 and 4 in Los Angeles. LeBron James and the Lakers erased a double-digit deficit in the second half on Monday night in Game 4, getting 15 fourth quarter points from Lonnie Walker IV to pull off the win. The Warriors have been brutal on the road, and they can’t seem to get consistent production from anyone but Steph Curry in this series. Golden State has been dominant at home this season, and even though it lost Game 1 to the Lakers, it has a great chance to bounce back on Wednesday night. The Lakers had a similar start against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round, but they mailed in Game 5 before closing out the series at home. The Warriors may have blown Game 4, but they are still 28-10 following a loss in the playoffs in Steph Curry’s career. The Lakers don’t need to pull out all the stops in Game 5, similar to how they played Memphis last series, with a game at Crypto Arena on the table for Game 6. Los Angeles is 6-0 in the postseason at home. The Warriors rebounded from their Game 1 loss at home with a massive bounce-back win, and I expect them to shoot the ball well again in Game 5 with the season on the line. Golden State went 33-8 at home in the regular season, so I’ll back the Warriors to win and cover to force a Game 6.

Game 5 Lakers Vs. Warriors

The New York Knicks’ backs are against the wall in Game 5 against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night after losing Games 3 and 4 in Miami to fall behind 3-1 in the series. Miami has dominated New York defensively, holding the Knicks to 101 or fewer points in three of the four games in this series. With Immanuel Quickley banged up and missing Game 4, the Knicks lacked any bench production on Monday night. Miami’s role players, specifically Max Strus, Caleb Martin and Kyle Lowry, have stepped up in a big way in this series. After playing Jalen Brunson 45 minutes in Game 4, can the Knicks survive and send the series back to Miami. The Knicks don’t have the depth to beat this Heat team that is going 10 deep in this series. New York played two players (Miles McBride and Obi Toppin) less than 10 minutes in Game 4, essentially rolling with a seven-man rotation. The issue for the Knicks has been treading water when Brunson is out of the game, even if the Heat don’t have Jimmy Butler in the lineup at the time. I don’t see that changing in Game 5, even with the Knicks at home. New York nearly lost Game 2 with Butler sitting out, and the Heat have shown that they are the superior shooting and rebounding team in this series. The Knicks are running out of gas, so don’t be shocked if Miami wins outright in Game 5.

Picks 🔒

Warriors -7 | The Warriors will come away with the win in this one and they'll lean heavily on being at home to carry them. They only lost ten games all season at the Chase Center and even while the Lakers were responsible for two of those, the numbers tell us that they are due for a bounce back.

Astros -120 | The Astros have a massive pitching advantage with Javier on the mound even though Canning has gone 2-0 in his first 4 starts. Houston is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings in Los Angeles and 57-27 in the last 84 meetings overall.
