Past winners have consistently ranked highly in driving distance and tend to perform strongly off the tee and on approach shots.

Though putting proficiency is noteworthy among recent winners, Quail Hollow aligns more closely with championship venues like Torrey Pines, Riviera, and Copperhead, rewarding superior tee-to-green performance. As one of the season's lengthier courses, alongside Augusta, Corales, Plantation, and Torrey Pines, success at Quail Hollow hinges significantly on a strong performance off the tee, although putting remains a crucial aspect of the game. 

Wyndham Clark secured victory in 2023 with a remarkable score of -19, outpacing Xander Schauffele by four strokes. McIlroy, a three-time champion, triumphed here in 2021 and has a runner-up finish in 2012, losing in a playoff to Rickie Fowler. Max Homa clinched his maiden PGA Tour victory in 2019 with a score of -15, while Jason Day emerged victorious in 2018 with a score of -12. Additionally, Justin Thomas claimed the 2017 PGA Championship title at Quail Hollow, adding to the course's rich history.
