Week 16 of the NFL schedule kicks off an NFC showdown in the City of Los Angeles. The New Orleans Saints hit the road to face the Los Angeles Rams in this Thursday Night Football matchup. Last week the Saints secured a 24-6 home victory over the Giants and the Rams defeated Washington 28-20 at home.

The all-time regular season series favors the Rams with a 42-34 advantage, but the Saints claimed a 27-20 home win in their most recent game on November 20, 2022. New Orleans enters this game with a 7-7 record and are tied with Tampa Bay for the NFC South's top spot. Despite being eighth in the NFC playoff picture the Saints lose the tiebreaker to the Rams based on conference record.

In their recent game against the Giants the Saints trailed 3-0 after the first quarter and took a 7-6 lead at halftime. The Saints dominated the second half with a 17-0 run. They held a total offense advantage of 296-193, secured 20 first downs and controlled the time of possession with a 33:27 to 26:33. The game saw no turnovers from either side. Statistically, the Saints rank 16th in passing offense, 19th in rushing offense, 12th in scoring offense and 6th in scoring defense.

On the other side, the Rams rebounded from an overtime road loss to Baltimore with a 28-20 win over Washington marking their fourth victory in the last five games. With a 7-7 record they sit second in the NFC West and hold the final wild-card spot with a superior conference record to the Saints.

Against Washington, the Rams took control early leading 3-0 after the first quarter, 13-0 at halftime and 20-0 in the third quarter. Although they allowed two late scores, the Rams secured the win with a 445-297 total offense advantage, 23 first downs, and a 35:53 to 24:07 edge in time of possession, despite losing the turnover battle 2-1.The Rams currently rank 11th in passing offense, 11th in rushing offense, 9th in scoring offense, and 19th in scoring defense.
