Wake Forest Leading The Way In Omaha

Good morning,

Let’s dive in…

Developing Stories 📰

We have two games tonight as there are 6 teams left in the college world series. The first game will feature Tennessee and No 8. Stanford at 2pm ET in an elimination game while tourney unbeaten No.5 seed LSU takes on top-seeded Wake Forest at 7pm ET.

Stanford gave Wake Forest all it could handle on Saturday, which is worth noting considering the Demon Deacons are the favorites to lift the trophy at the end of the tournament. It shows that the Cardinal can contend against any opponent, especially when their ace is on the mound. Trust hot hitters like Tommy Troy and Eddie Park to back up their pitcher with enough runs. This is a classic matchup between an elite pitching staff and a standout offensive lineup. Tennessee enters Monday ranked second in team ERA (3.62) and second in WHIP (1.16). Meanwhile, Stanford checks in second in total hits (739) and ninth in batting average (.318). It's going to be a battle. Keep in mind that Stanford is the one with a slight pitching advantage here, though. Mathews is 10-4 on the season with a 3.60 ERA and struck out a season-best 16 batters in his most recent outing. Dollander has been solid with a 7-6 record and a 4.50 ERA, but he allowed 4 earned runs his last time out.

LSU heads into Monday's matchup fresh off an impressive 6-3 win over TEnnessee that saw right fielder Jobert Brayden lead the charge with three hits and two RBIs. Meanwhile, two runs scored in the bottom of the eighth inning helped life Wake Forest to a 3-2 victory against No 8. Stanford over the weekend. Tonight's matchup should be a good one with both LSU and Wake Forest being undefeated since the NCAA Tournament began. The Tigers are allowing just 3.3 runs per game thus far and have held their last three opponents to a total of six. The Demon Deacons have been dominant for the most part, outscoring their six opponents by an average of 10 runs per outing. It’s clear that both sides have great pitching so this game could come down to which has the better offense, which is Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have scored 12-plus runs in four of six tournament games, scoring as many as 22. LSU's attack is one of the best in the country, too, but it's clear that its upcoming opponent is playing on a different level.

Picks 🔒

Rockies/Reds Over 10 | Great American Ball Park is a hitter-friendly venue and the Reds are tied for the 9th-best ISO (.174) against left-handed pitching since the beginning of May. The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these teams and 11-4-1 in their last 16 meetings in Cincinnati.

Padres -115 | The Giants lost both games so far this series. San Diego is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings with San Francisco giving them the edge here.

Stanford +115 | The Cardinal are 33-4 when scoring at least 6 runs and I like them to keep that trend going in a victory.
