Texans at Jets Preview
Game 5 in the Bronx
Good morning,
Letโs dive inโฆ
Developing Stories ๐ฐ

Heading into Week 9 of the NFL season, the Houston Texans will face the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football in New Jersey. The Texans, who just edged out the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 last Sunday, didnโt meet the expectations of a 4.5-point favorite but improved their record to 6-2 and now lead the AFC South by two games. The Jets, meanwhile, lost a close one, 25-22, to the New England Patriots, marking their fifth straight defeat. The Jets hold a 7-3 advantage in the all-time series against Houston, including a 30-6 win in their last meeting in December 2023.
In their game against Indianapolis, Houston trailed early but rallied to take a halftime lead and maintained control through the second half, finishing with 363 total yards and winning the turnover battle. They currently rank 8th in passing and 18th in rushing in the league, with quarterback C.J. Stroud throwing for 1,948 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs lead their receivers, while Joe Mixon has been effective on the ground.
The Jets, now 2-6, sit near the bottom of the AFC East. Against the Patriots, they traded the lead multiple times but ultimately lost after a last-minute touchdown. New York is ranked 13th in passing but struggles with their 30th-ranked rushing offense. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 1,896 yards with 12 touchdowns, and Garrett Wilson leads their receivers with 573 yards. The Jets have a solid defense, allowing 21.3 points per game, but have had trouble converting field goals this season.

Picks ๐

10/30/24
Cavaliers -5 | The Cavs have been one of the top-scoring teams, with Mitchell and Garland forming a very efficient backcourt, both shooting over 50% and averaging close to 45 points and 10 assists combined. Although the Lakers have a strong frontcourt with LeBron and Davis, Clevelandโs Mobley and Allen can keep up, and the Lakersโ defense, ranked low in guarding the perimeter, may struggle against the Cavs. Clevelandโs offense is likely to take advantage and secure the win.
10/31/24
Texans +2 | This will be a tough game for both teams. Houston is missing Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs which hurt their passing game. The Jets, desperate to turn their season around after five straight losses, have struggled offensively despite strong defensive efforts; Houston has the edge to pull off the win here.
