This Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Georgia and Alabama will face off for the first time since 2020, and it won’t be for a championship title. Both teams are undefeated at 3-0, with Georgia ranked 2nd and Alabama 4th in the nation. Although this game won’t determine a title, it could impact both teams chances for the College Football Playoffs. The game is set to kick off at 7:30 PM EST.

Georgia comes into the game well-rested after a bye week, following a close 13-12 victory over Kentucky on September 14. The Bulldogs were behind 9-3 in the third quarter but scored the last 10 points to secure the win, marking their 42nd consecutive regular-season victory and 28th straight in SEC games. Coach Kirby Smart views this matchup as a significant opportunity for his players. Quarterback Carson Beck played well against Kentucky, completing 15 of 24 passes for 160 yards and leading a key drive to clinch the win. Running back Trevor Etienne contributed with 79 yards on 19 carries. However, Georgia will need to improve their offensive performance, as they only totaled 262 yards against Kentucky.

Defensively, Georgia excelled, holding Kentucky to 284 yards of offense and limiting them to 3.9 yards per play. Cornerback Daylen Everette led the team with eight tackles, and several defenders made significant contributions. As they prepare for this game, Georgia will face three ranked teams on the road this season. Historically, they’ve performed well in Alabama, winning two of their last three games there. Despite their solid defense, Georgia ranks 81st in total offense nationally and will need to enhance their performance against Alabama.

Alabama also comes into this game well-rested, having last played on the 14th against Wisconsin, where they won decisively 42-10. Quarterback Jalen Milroe continued his strong season, throwing for 196 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for two touchdowns. The Crimson Tide defense limited Wisconsin to 290 yards and forced four fumbles.With a history of success against Georgia, Alabama has won eight of their last nine matchups. They currently rank 21st in total offense and 12th in total defense, but they have faced challenges in the red zone. Both teams share concerns over penalties, ranking 106th in that category, which could be a critical factor in this evenly matched game.

Penn State -18 | If Penn State quarterback Drew Allar performs well and helps the team start strong, like 7-0 or 14-0 in the first quarter, the Nittany Lions can control the game and score plenty of points against Illinois. Penn State is the stronger team and playing at home, so it’s very possible they could win by 21 points or more. That wouldn’t be surprising at all.

Southern Alabama +21 | Southern Alabama’s offense is rolling right now after putting up 87 points two weeks ago and then beating App St 48-14 last week at 8 point underdogs. LSU has looked a bit slow so far this year and I think USA has the fire power and momentum to keep this game within two touchdowns.

North Carolina +115 | Many people are dismissing North Carolina after their loss to JMU, but their second-half performance shows they’re still a strong program. Duke hasn’t faced tough opponents this season, which makes their 4-0 start less impressive. North Carolina has the potential to prove they are still the better team. I believe North Carolina will upset Duke, as they should be favored despite last week’s outcome.

Notre Dame -6.5 | Louisville's easy schedule may make their matchup with Notre Dame seem more competitive than it is. Despite a rough loss to Northern Illinois, Notre Dame has been consistently strong overall. Last season, Jeff Brohm effectively strategized against the Fighting Irish, but his aggressive offensive approach could pose risks. Additionally, Louisville's defense struggles against mobile quarterbacks. This game could be a turning point for Leonard, allowing him to address his recent struggles in front of a supportive home crowd.

Georgia -1.5 | Alabama hasn’t been an underdog at home since 2007. Theres a reason they’re the underdog in this game. Georgia offense is top 10 in every category and should get the win this weekend.

Detroit -3.5 | Seattle’s 3-0 record is overhyped. The Lions show up in primetime and are still super bowl contenders

LA Rams +3 | The Rams just won a comeback game against the 49ers, which could help boost their confidence moving forward. Meanwhile, Chicago is still figuring out its offense as QB Caleb Williams experiences typical rookie struggles. Despite having injuries, Sean McVay and the Rams are expected to pull off another win with strong performances from Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams, and Byron Young on defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers -2 | The Steelers have won three straight games, while the Colts have lost two of three. The Steelers are good at running the ball which will exploit the Colts' weak run defense. The Colts also struggle with their passing game and turnovers, with quarterback Richardson throwing six interceptions. Expect the Steelers to control the game and cover the spread.
