NCAAF Conference Championship Weekend

Oregon vs Washington preview

Good morning,

Letโ€™s dive inโ€ฆ

Developing Stories ๐Ÿ“ฐ

In the upcoming Pac-12 Championship in Las Vegas, the No. 5 Oregon Ducks take on the No. 3 Washington Huskies at Allegiant Stadium on Friday with an 8 p.m. ET kickoff (ABC).

Oregon enters the championship with impressive momentum, concluding the regular season with a six-game winning streak, triumphing in each game by two scores or more, including two victories against ranked opponents. Throughout the season, the Ducks consistently scored 30 or more points in all 12 games and held their last two opponents to under 14 points.

Washington, despite recent struggles remains undefeated and are eagerly eyeing a spot in the CFP Playoff. The Huskies faced close calls in their final three games all ending with one-score differences. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr., after a stellar start to the season, experienced a downturn throwing for less than 205 yards in each of the last two games.

Oregon lived up to its season-long hype, dominating with an average winning margin of 32.2 points per game (26.7 against Pac-12 opponents). Quarterback Bo Nix emerged as a Heisman front-runner during the six-game win streak, producing four consecutive 360-yard passing performances and a total of 20 touchdowns. Defensively, Oregon held four of its last five opponents to under 20 points.

The Ducks boasted impressive offensive statistics, scoring 45.3 points per game, and averaging 541.1 total yards including 351.4 passing yards and 189.7 rushing yards. Their efficiency was evident in a 52.7 percent conversion rate on third downs and an 85.7 percent scoring rate in the red zone. Defensively, they allowed 15.9 points and 306.9 total yards per game.

Washington, in pursuit of an unblemished season, faces the challenge with the dynamic Michael Penix Jr. leading the offense, accounting for 35 total touchdowns. The Huskies averaged 38.0 points per game and 468.1 total yards showcasing strength in passing yards 345.5, but relative weakness in rushing yards 122.6 Their third-down conversion rate was 45.8 percent and they scored on 84.4 percent of red zone trips.

The Ducks must secure a victory to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff and we predict that after tonightโ€™s matchup there will be no doubt, they are the undisputed champions of the Pac-12. Oregon had a dominant streak while Washington barely managed to scrape through. The momentum strongly favors Oregon will be driven to dominate securing a comfortable lead that the Huskies won't be able to overcome. The pivotal factor in this game will be Oregon's defense which is prepared to apply consistent pressure on Penix and create challenges for the Huskies in moving the chains Nix will exploit Washington's 124th-ranked pass defense solidifying his Heisman legacy.

Weekend Picks ๐Ÿ”’

NCAAF

Oregon -9.5 | Analysis above

Tulane -3.5 | The Green Wave have a tough defense that can make things difficult on a backup quarterback. SMUโ€™s Kevin Jennings has thrown only 46 passes in his 2 years in college. The Mustangs may need to lean on their ground game and Tulane have a solid run defense only allowing 86 rush yards per game and 2.95 per attempt.

NCAAB

George Washington +9 | George Washington has been playing well this season led by Bishop IV and company. They have the advantage on the 3 which will help them keep this game close.

NFL

49ers -3 | This is a great spot for the visitors here. Not only do they have revenge in mind for the NFC Championship Game where they lost their quarterbacks due to injury but they have a major rest advantage. The 49ers last played in Seattle on Thanksgiving, and will have 10 days off to rest and prepare.

Falcons -2.5 | Atlanta features the best rushing attack New York has faced this season- Bijan Robinson and co. should feast against the Jets' 27th-ranked run defense. Ridder simply needs to take care of the football, keeping the chains moving when Atlanta picks its spots to pass.
