76ers Vs. Celtics Game 2:
The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics resume their seven-game series with game two set in Boston on Wednesday night. The Sixers were able to pull off an upset in game one without MVP Joel Embiid to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Boston will try to knot things up with a win in game two. The opening tip is scheduled for 8:00 PM EST.
The Philadelphia 76ers came into game one of this series with low expectations due to the absence of injured center Joel Embiid. Those expectations have been raised, however, as the Sixers took home court advantage with a 119-115 win. James Harden tied a career playoff-high with 45 points including a three-point field goal with under ten seconds left to give Philly the lead. The 76ers also got 26 points from Tyrese Maxey while Tobias Harris added 18 points in a game that featured 17 3pt field goals from the Sixers. The Sixers are now 5-0 in the playoffs following the game one win. Philadelphia is averaging 106.8 points per game in the playoffs, which is ranked just 12th in the playoffs. They were a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line and were outrebounded by ten without Embiid in the lineup. Keep an eye on Embiid's status as game two approaches. With a win in game one and Embiid attempted to play on a grade two knee-sprain, it might be wise for the Sixers to rest him one more game.
The Boston Celtics coughed up the homecourt advantage in game one of the series with a 119-115 loss to the Sixers. It was the second straight loss at home by Boston in the playoffs and the second straight home loss that the team couldn't close out a late lead. Jayson Tatum led Boston with 39 points while adding 11 rebounds. Jaylen Brown chipped in with 23 points and Malcolm Brogdon added 20 points in a losing effort. Boston led 115-112 before being outscored 7-0 in the final minute. The Celtics are now just 2-2 at home in the playoffs after the loss in game one of the series. While the Celtics shot nearly 60% from the floor in game one, it was the team's defense that failed to deliver. Boston is now giving up over 116 points per game in the playoffs, which is a poor 12th overall. The oddsmakers don't seem too confident that Embiid will return in game two. After already stealing game one, it doesn't seem worth it for the Sixers to put him in the lineup in game two. With that in mind, I expect a determined Boston team to run away with game two.

Picks 🔒

Golden Knights -105 | The Golden Knights won their First Round series with ease and look to win Game One on their home ice. The offense has been great, but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 14 goals. Chandler Stephenson and Mark Stone scored seven goals and nine assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Vegas should carry their momentum into tonight’s game.
76ers/Celtics Over 216.5 | Boston has an average implied point total of 117.5 this season, which is 4.5 points higher than its implied total in Wednesday’s game. If Boston hits that number then Philadelphia just has to put up 100.
Rockies F5 +100 | The Brewers own a 70 OPS+ against the left-handed pitchers in 2023, and I’m expecting them to continue to struggle against Kyle Freeland. On the other side, Eric Lauer will have a tall task to keep the Rockies quiet, and given his awful displays at Coors Field in the past.
