Week 3 of the NFL season kicks off with an NFC showdown in San Francisco. The New York Giants hit the road, facing the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, despite a quick turnaround from their Sunday afternoon clash. The Giants had an impressive comeback, erasing a 20-0 halftime deficit to snatch a 31-28 victory over Arizona. However, they failed to cover the 4.5-point spread as favorites. The San Francisco 49ers secured a 30-23 road win against the Rams but fell short of covering the 7.5-point spread as favorites. The 49ers rank 16th in passing with 213 yards per game and an impressive third in rushing offense with 173.5 yards per game. Their scoring offense is equally impressive, ranking third in the league with an average of 30 points per game. The excel on defense allowing only 15 points per game, ranking them third in scoring defense. Brock Purdy, has been efficient, throwing for 426 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 25 rushing yards and a touchdown. Running back Christian McCaffrey leads the ground attack with 268 yards and two scores. Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk share the team lead with 11 receptions, while George Kittle and McCaffrey also contribute to the passing game. Kicker Jake Moody has been reliable, hitting all six extra point attempts and all six field goal attempts, including a long of 57 yards.

Despite the Giants' recent comeback win, starting slow against the 49ers could prove costly, given San Francisco's ability to both score and suppress opponents. The Giants' defense must be prepared for the 49ers' aggressive style, which could pose a challenge for Daniel Jones, who has faced frequent pressure this season. If Saquon Barkley is unavailable, it will be a significant blow to the Giants' offense. In the end, the 49ers appear to be the superior team and are poised to exploit the Giants' weaknesses, potentially extending their record to 3-0 with a convincing victory.
