Can The Warriors Tie Up The Series On The Road Tonight?

James Harden and the 76ers keeping up with the Celtics

Good morning,

Let’s dive in…

Developing Stories 📰

Game 4 Lakers Vs. Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers play host to the Golden State Warriors on Monday night from the Crypto Arena in game four of this Western Conference showdown. These two teams split the first two games of the series in Northern California but after the Lakers grabbed a win on Saturday night, they took a 2-1 series lead. The Lakers have dominated the series between these two all season long and while the Warriors have championship experience, so does the Lakers. A win in this one would put Golden State's backs against the wall, giving this game plenty of legs in terms of likely dictating how this series goes. Golden State finds itself down 2-1 for the second-straight series, only this time they find themselves on the road for this crucial matchup. The Warriors have one of the worst marks in the NBA in road games this season, coming in with a 13-33 record, casting serious doubt over how they might handle Monday night. They are in desperate need of a win to avoid being down 3-1 and with their struggles on both ends, especially in game three, there is serious concern that this might not be their year. The Warriors have done well to avoid injuries this off-season and they will at least be able to utilize their full roster for game three. The Lakers dominated in game three and quickly look poised to take over this series, especially with game four at home. With a 28-18 record in home games this season, it's clear this group has played their best in front of their fans, though having a full roster of late has certainly helped as well. Game three saw the Lakers dominate in every aspect of the game and the fact that they got to rest their stars with only one day in between games, is key as well. The Warriors might not win this game outright but they will find a way to be in it going into the final seconds. Curry continues to be elite but he'll find a way to get the supporting cast far more involved in this one. Steve Kerr did a great job after Davis' game-one dominance to make adjustments and there's no doubt that he'll be able to find a way to disrupt him again in game four. The supporting cast showed up for the Lakers in game three but given their own inconsistencies, it'll be expected to see a drop-off, especially with confidence high.

Game 5 76ers Vs. Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers have James Harden to thank for the fact that this series is tied at 2-2. The Celtics have outplayed the Sixers overall, but Harden has basically won two games by himself. He scored 45 points in the shocking game 1 upset in Boston, and the scored 42, including the game winning three, in the game 4 overtime thriller. long with the 42 points he had 8 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 steals, and shot 16 of 23 from the floor. He got a lot of help from reigning league MVP Joel Embiid, who had 34 points and 13 rebounds. Tyrese Maxey added 14 points and 8 rebounds as well. The Sixers shot 46% from the floor and 38% from three point range. There was a lot to like about the Celtics 116-115 overtime loss to the Sixers in game 4 on Sunday afternoon, yet, Celtics fans left that game with a bad taste in their mouths. They came back from a second half deficit to take the lead, led by Jayson Tatum, who played a great all around game. But then in the final possession, with a chance to win, the Celtics didn't get a shot off. Talk about frustrating. Some say Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla should have called a timeout there to set up a play. Her left it in the hands of Tatum, who fiddled and diddled too long and lo and behold, the Celtics didn't even get a shot off in time. Tatum led the Celtics with 24 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks, while Brown had 23 points and 5 assists. Marcus Smart added 21 points and 7 assists while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 19 points and 8 rebounds. The Celtics have largely outplayed the Sixers in this series, yet here we are, tied at 2 games apiece. The series shifts back to Boston and after a bitter, bitter defeat on Sunday afternoon in game 4, the Celtics will come out fired up and focused. They went from taking complete control of this series and having a chance to close it out to now facing a critical game where a loss would result in an elimination game in Philly. After losing game 5 at home to the Bucks in the second round last year, and needing to win games 6 and 7 to advance, I can't see history repeating itself here. Take the Celtics here.

Picks 🔒

Warriors +3.5 | The Warriors are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss and are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up loss.

Brewers -110 | The Brewers are worth a look in this series opener, as Peralta hasn’t allowed much of anything at home this season. Peralta has 3 quality starts in his 4 home outings overall, including a win against the Detroit Tigers in his most recent home showing on April 26.

Knights/Oilers Over 7 | There have been at least 7 goals in 5 straight games these teams faced one another. There is bound to be some variance, but I don’t see it here with the way each goalie is playing. Edmonton has gone over in 3 straight, and Vegas has gone over in 5 of 6.
