Developing Stories 📰

The Buffalo Bills will head to Miami on Thursday night to face the Dolphins in a key AFC East matchup. Both teams are 1-0 after winning their opening games by making comebacks. The Bills were behind 10-0 at home against the Arizona Cardinals but fought back to win 34-28. The Dolphins were trailing the Jacksonville Jaguars 17-7 at halftime but came back to win 20-17. The game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. EST.

The Bills avoided starting the season with a loss thanks to their star quarterback Josh Allen. Allen threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, helping his team overcome a 14-point deficit. His six-yard run into the end zone capped a great performance and made sure the defending AFC East champions would head to Miami with a 1-0 record.  Allen ended the day completing 18 of 23 passes for 232 yards, spreading the ball around to nine different receivers. Khalil Shakir and Mack Hollins each caught a touchdown pass, while rookie Keon Coleman led with 43 receiving yards. Running back James Cook also played a key role, rushing for 71 yards on 19 carries.

Defensively, the Bills allowed 270 yards of total offense, with 134 of those on the ground. The Cardinals were able to score twice in the red zone, but the Bills' defense made critical plays, forcing a turnover and sacking the quarterback four times. Greg Rousseau stood out with three sacks and two additional pressures, while linebacker Terrel Bernard led the defense with 11 tackles.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, had a rocky start to their season, even before the game began, when their star wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, was briefly detained by police over a traffic violation. Despite this distraction, Miami struggled in the first half, falling behind 17-7 at halftime.

In the second half, the Dolphins’ offense came alive, and their defense held the Jaguars scoreless. Tagovailoa finished with 336 passing yards, including an 80-yard touchdown pass to Hill, who put his pregame issues behind him. Miami took the lead for good when Jason Sanders nailed a 52-yard field goal as time expired.

The Dolphins' defense played a big role in the win, pitching a second-half shutout and recording three sacks along with five tackles for loss. They forced a key fumble inside the red zone and held the Jaguars to just 2-of-11 on third-down attempts. The Jaguars managed only 267 yards of total offense, with just 139 coming through the air.

Picks 🔒

Dolphins -2.5 | The Dolphins have a great opportunity to beat the Bills at home here. The Bills' defensive front is injured, and their offense is still finding its rhythm. Buffalo's once-strong secondary is breaking in two new safeties, which could lead to vulnerabilities. Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, who passed for over 300 yards in Week 1, will look to exploit this. Meanwhile, Bills QB Josh Allen has a hand injury, which may limit his effectiveness on a short week.
