BIG 10 Matchup

#4 Buckeyes headed to face #3 Nittany Lions

Good morning,

Letโ€™s dive inโ€ฆ

Developing Stories ๐Ÿ“ฐ

The biggest college football game this weekend is at noon, featuring the #4 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-1, 3-1 in Big Ten) and the #3 Penn State Nittany Lions (7-0, 4-0 in Big Ten). Ohio State won last yearโ€™s game 20-12. In their last game, Ohio State just barely beat Nebraska 21-17, not meeting the expected 25.5-point winning margin. Penn State recently beat Wisconsin 28-13 as a 6.5-point favorite. Ohio State is favored to win this matchup by 3.5 points, and the game will be on FOX at 12:00 p.m. EST from Beaver Stadium, University Park.

Ohio Stateโ€™s only loss this season was to #3 Oregon, which doesnโ€™t affect their playoff chances as much as a loss to Nebraska would have. They barely held on to beat Nebraska, with a key touchdown pass from Will Howard to Quinshon Judkins late in the game. Howard, who transferred from Kansas State, is Ohio Stateโ€™s quarterback and has been averaging 256.4 passing yards per game, with a high 74% completion rate and 17 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. Their top receivers are Jeremiah Smith, a freshman with 35 catches, 623 yards, and 8 touchdowns, and senior Emeka Egbuka, with 43 catches, 546 yards, and 6 touchdowns. Their two main running backs, Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, have combined for over 900 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are one of three Big Ten teams without a loss, along with #1 Oregon and #13 Indiana. Theyโ€™ve had a lighter schedule, with only one game against a ranked team (#19 Illinois). This game against Ohio State is their toughest yet. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar left the Wisconsin game early due to an injury, and his status for this game is uncertain. If he canโ€™t play, sophomore Beau Pribula will step in, as he did against Wisconsin, completing 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Penn Stateโ€™s leading rushers are Kaytron Allen with 509 yards and four touchdowns and Nicholas Singleton with 483 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Tyle Warren leads in receiving with 47 catches for 559 yards and four touchdowns.

Weekend Picks ๐Ÿ”’

Louisville +10.5 | Louisvilleโ€™s offense moves quickly and efficiently, and the high total suggests both teams will be scoring. I believe Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough can exploit Clemsonโ€™s shaky secondary. The Tigers are aiming for an ACC Championship spot, but theyโ€™ll need to watch out for Jeff Brohmโ€™s energetic squad.

South Carolina +3 | South Carolina is 5-2 ATS this season compared to A&M at 3-5. The Aggies have had trouble finding a quarterback who can throw the ball and the if Gamecock defense can stop the run they can stay in this game.

Browns +1.5 | The Brownsโ€™ offense has looked more confident and effective with Winston stepping in at quarterback, showing comfort in the pocket and taking advantage of their strong offensive weapons. Theyโ€™ll face a solid Chargers defense this Sunday, but with Los Angelesโ€™ average pass rush and below-average run defense, Cleveland may find room to exploit. The Browns' strong red zone performance could give them the edge, especially as the Chargers have struggled to convert red zone chances into touchdowns.

Bills -6 | The Bills have dominated the Dolphins lately, winning 9 of their last 10 matchups, with six wins by more than a touchdown. With the NFL's best turnover differential, Buffalo should find success against Miami's defense, which struggles to force turnovers and pressure the quarterback. Expect the Bills to score over 30 points at home, while Miamiโ€™s offense is unlikely to keep up.
